ENERGY STAR RATING

Austest Laboratories can now provide all your Energy Star Rating testing for Dishwashers, Refrigerators, and Washing Machines in 2005. We can help you acheive the Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) which is now regulated by the Australian Government.

Washing Machines are tested in accordance with the Australian Standard AS/NZS2040.

The test procedure for clothes washers includes the wash and spin performance, water consumption and pressure, and the severity of washing.

Energy consumption is calculated based on the recommended program setting for a normally soiled cotton load at the maximum rated capacity, and at a wash temperature of 35 degrees. Water pressure will be 320 kPa, and the rated power supply used is 240 Volts / 50 Hz.

Refrigerators and Freezers are tested in accordance with the Australian Standard AS/NZS4474.

The test procedure for refrigerators and freezers includes defining the declared manufacturer's volume rating, the temperature operation test , and pull down test.

Energy consumption is calculated based on specified internal compartment temperatures while operating with an ambient temperature of 32 degrees C. We have build a dedicated test room where we can set any specified environment. Rated power supply used is 240 Volts / 50 Hz.

Dishwashers are tested in accordance with the Australian Standard AS/NZS2007.

The test procedure for dishwashers includes the washing and drying index, water consumption and pressure, and the rated capacity. We use a Miele reference dishwasher which has been specially constructed and calibrated for the purpose of rating the washing index.

Energy consumption is calculated based on the recommended program setting for a normal load. Water pressure will be as the range stated by the manufacturer, and the rated power supply used is 240 Volts / 50 Hz.
