About Us

AUSTEST LABORATORIES is an INDEPENDENT, Australian owned testing and certification company assisting manufacturers, importers and exporters in gaining access to local and international markets.

Upon quote acceptance, each testing and/or approvals project is assigned a dedicated project manager (no faceless people here), who you’re able to discuss all aspects of your project with, at any time via our unique, web based project management tool. Want an up to date status of your job with us?, log on 24/7 and see the current status, send communications to the assigned test engineer and directly upload documentation, see past projects and quotes, even request new projects on-line.

History

Austest was formed in 1991 to cater to AUSTEL (previous name for ACMA) based customers requiring NATA conformance test reports for obtaining AUSTEL approvals and has since grown to become the most comprehensive "full service" compliance test facility in Australia by encompassing testing and approval services covering Electrical Safety, Energy Efficiency, EMC(emissions and immunity), Telecommunications, Wireless and Environmental product compliance.

Austest became part of the Approval Specialists group in May 2008 which brought together testing and certification facilities in Sydney, the NSW Central Coast, Melbourne (formerly Comlabs) and Adelaide.

Austest works closely with other Approval Specialists companies to provide a complete certification service with additional facilities in Auckland NZ (Harvest Laboratories) and offices and agents in many Asian and Latin-South American countries.

Globally Recognised, Accredited Testing

As an independently audited ISO:17025 accredited testing laboratory, you can be assured of quality testing that is locally and globally recognised. Some manufacturers base their testing decisions solely on the cheapest price, often to find the report they receive is unaccredited, to an old or obsolete version of the standard or missing some of the mandatory tests. Austest Laboratories reports are accepted locally by Australian and New Zealand electrical safety regulators and certification agencies (private/JASANZ and State), the Australian Communications and Media Authority, (ACMA), programs administered by the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency, the NSW Govt IPART ESS (Energy Saving Scheme), and the Victorian State Government under their VEET scheme.

Globally, our reports are recognised in South Africa by ICASA, the FCC and Industry Canada, the iDA in Singapore, JATE in Japan, CE for Europe and under the globally accepted CB Scheme.

CB Scheme

As a member of the internationally recognised CB Scheme for electrical safety testing, Austest produces CB safety reports for a huge range of electrical products. Our CB reports, in conjunction with TUV Rheinland of Japan who provide our CB Certificates, open up world markets for your products.

A2LA Accredited

Our Sydney, NSW Central Coast and Melbourne facilities are A2LA (the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation) accredited for a vast range of standards. Austest has chosen A2LA as our accreditation provider, giving our customers the widest possible global reach for acceptance of accredited reports. A2LA has accredited more than 2000 organisations and is a signatory to several multilateral mutual recognition arrangements including the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), the Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC), and the InterAmerican Accreditation Cooperation (IAAC). A2LA and NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) are both signatories to the ILAC and APLAC MRA’s for mutual acceptance of test data and reports.
